Calsonic Kansei Corporation (President & CEO: Hiroshi Moriya; Headquarters: Kita-ku, Saitama City) has launched a new product, the "CK-SMiTH"* which dramatically improves the weight saving and catalyst temperature rise by converting the turbine housing of turbocharger into sheet metal. This product will be exhibited at the Tokyo Motor Show opening today.

The "CK-SMiTH" is the world's first product for diesel engine vehicles, achieving a 15% reduction in weight, and improved catalyst temperature rise performance compared to conventional cast housings.

In the medium-term business plan "Compass 2021" announced in September, which covers the years up to 2021, Calsonic Kansei is aiming to develop inimitable products that are unique to CK. The first stage is this "CK-SMiTH". This new product has been created with the aim of reaching 30% on value-added sales in sales of new products and innovative products, one of the aims of Calsonic Kansei's "Compass 2021".
