Recently, Hayato Shimizu, Mayor of Saitama City, paid a visit to the headquarters and R&D center of Calsonic Kansei Corporation, located in Kita-ku of Saitama City, for the first time.

Calsonic Kansei is a monozukuri enterprise based in Saitama City. Mayor Shimizu was given briefings on the company's history and products by employees, and observed with deep interest the employees at work and other happenings at the company. The mayor left with a deeper understanding of the company's activities.

In 2008, Calsonic Kansei established its R&D Center in Saitama City, and also shifted over its headquarters which was then based at Nakano-ku, Tokyo. With Saitama as its core, Calsonic Kansei has expanded its network to 78 production sites around the world. Calsonic Kansei's consolidated sales were 669.4 billion yen in FY2008, the year of the shift. This rose beyond 1 trillion yen for the first time in FY2015, reaching 1.05 trillion yen. Even as Calsonic Kansei expands overseas, it works at earning the trust of local communities by carrying out a variety of activities.

These include putting in place workplace charging* and opening its EV charging stations to the city's residents, securing a water infrastructure that provides drinkable water even when water works are interrupted by disasters, and industry-academia collaboration with nearby educational institutions. Calsonic Kansei will continue to carry out such initiatives to further deepen its partnership with the region.

Note: Workplace charging Charging stations are installed at a company's office buildings and plants so that employees and visitors can charge electric vehicles (EV) while working or carrying out business. This initiative aims to make the usage of EV even more pleasant and convenient, and at the same time conserve the surrounding environment through reducing emission gases.
